It was not an ideal night for soccer at the pitch on Tuesday night as the Orange Timbits met the Purple team, but that didn’t dampen the kids enthusiasm!
Our team was in short supply as we started our stretches and soccer drills, with only five players ready to go at game time. Luckily by the time our drills were over, Coach Thompson had conscripted a couple of Red Timbits, Arwin and Chase, so we were all set for a fun filled game of soccer.
Game time actually saw the temperature drop a little more, so it was important for everyone to keep moving, and move they did. Hope Adams started the game off with a great end to end rush, and with some great help from one of her new Red shirted team mates, she put the ball in the net for our first goal. Spencer Humble and Emma Thompson made some great plays on defence to befuddle the Purple strikers, and when they did get through, Jamie Dunham stood tall in our net. Purple stayed after the rebounds, though, and snuck in a couple of quick goals of their own. The teams really didn’t want to stand around in the chilly air, so the ball was rushing end to end all night, exchanging goal after goal in a classic see saw battle of the titans. Grace Adams made some great saves in net, and Jamie and Hope each had a couple more big rushes for goals. Even the purple team wanted to get in on the scoring free for all, and it was a great game to watch for everyone involved. When the final whistle blew, snacks were handed out and our final score was again, that famous fun-fun tie.
