Go-Glass Picks Up Another Win
Submitted By nritter on Wednesday, July 29, 2009
A 3-0 victory over the Kincardine News sends the Go-Glass record to 10 wins, no losses and one even match.
Both Kincardine teams battled back and forth with Go-Glass putting the first one on the board. Go-Glass’ Jacob Hunsburger forwarded a pass to Sam Culmer out front, punching the ball through the last defenders and beating the News’ keeper. Midway through the half a handball in front of the News net ended with Hunsburger taking a penalty shot through the fingertips of the News keeper to pad their lead to 2. A number of chances were missed by both teams, with both teams trying to get the ball high over the keeper’s reach but missing the net completely on the high side.
Early in the second half Go-Glass’ J.P. Catelo received a cross pass and booted a high shot just catching the top post and bouncing it into the net to increase the Go-Glass lead to 3. The News had a number of good chances with the second half with a missed free kick close to the Go-Glass net, and a ball that took a couple of bounces on the goal line but was prevented from crossing the line by keeper Marcel Fohkens. The coaches wish to recognize Stephen Ritter for several strong defensive plays throughout the game to break up the News momentum heading into the Go-Glass end.
