ReMax'ers Drop Game to Even Record
The Big Blue from ReMax played inspired soccer but facing one of the best teams in the league came up short to drop their second game of the season. The loss leaves the team with a 2-2 record
A change of venue was in order as the team from Remax had played their first three games of the season on the same field. However, the new scenery was not enough to thwart the very strong Sobey's team and Big Blue machine fell victim to some outstanding goal scoring in the first half by the strikers from Sobeys and ended the first half down 3 to nil. Caleb Hunt played outstanding for ReMax in goal for the first half with some key stops early on in the half before seeing a couple of rocket shots sail over his head into the net.
"I don't know too many goalies in this league that would have stopped those. I mean any player at this age that can go to the top shelf where the peanut butter is kept is scoring to score on almost anybody at this level" remarked Coach Maurer.
The second half saw the defense of ReMax come through stopping numerous chances of Sobey's time and time again lead by second half goalkeeper Sammy Maurer. Although scoring chances heavily favored the very strong team from Sobeys, Big Blue did manage to score on the first first penalty kick of the season! Other than a slippery ball going through goaltender Maurer and squeaking over the line, ReMax played a stellar second half only to come up short.
Coach Petrie summed up the game like this, "I think tonight went well. They are really starting to come together and work as a team. They started to recognize where they should be on the field and that will only make them better. They need to continue to work on their positions but they really did well tonight"
