After a rainy miserable day the skies cleared and the sun shore for the Kincardine Home Hardware Under 12 Girls second game of the season.
Home Hardware was off to a quick lead with Natasha Alder scoring the first goal of the game in the first couple minutes of the game. Kincardine kept up the pressure with Korrine Mangotich, Halley Byle and Rylee Evans having many scoring chances but stopped by the Walkerton goaltender. Walkerton fought back to get two quick goals and take the lead. Once again Natasha hit the net and scored to tie the game at 2-2. Great defense was played by Bethan Killin and Katrina Delas Armas. An excellent effort by Rylee paid off as she scored to put Kincardine ahead 3-2 at half-time.
In the second half Walkerton and their 19 players came out energized scoring twice to tie the game and then take the lead 4-3. Kincardine fought back hard and Natsha scored her 3rd goal of the game to make it 4-4 late in the second half. Kara McDonald proved to be the Kincardine muscle with excellent corner kicks and throw-ins. There were great efforts to break the tie by Halley, Sidney and Natasha just missing the inside post. With minutes remaining in the game Kincardine was rewarded a penalty shot and Sofia Tiu made no mistakes to put the final score at 5-4 for Kincardine. Way to go girls!
