The Meridian girls continue their undefeated streak at home....
Well those Meridian players keep driving to the ball, as they challenged Harriston to match at the Davidson center track Wednesday June 30th , missing 6 players, but nice temperature for the game & sunny. As the 1st half got rolling, Meridian seem to have enough attempts at scoring but couldn't finish the shot, so enough said with 10 minutes left to play Cassidy Colhoun put us with a 2-0 lead with the help of others to set the goal up, from Andrea Plagos, Natasha Adler, Charolette Bates . Nicole McLeod kept the shut out for the 1st half, with the help of solid defense from Jenna Gade , Tegan Moore , Morgan Baker. After our half time, restructuring the lines, playing a 2-4-4 positions, the defense really had to play solid, and Colhoun in net now, had eyes wide open on the ball for 40 minutes. The forwards & midfielders needed to figure out that playing wide was the secret to suggest, starting in the midfield, allowing chances to prevail ! Jorie Elliott scored from a midfield pass from Ashely Boyd. Minutes later Meridian was awarded a corner kick, Plagos popped a nice kick into the goal crease, one bounce & Elliott gave a crane swing kick ( like off Karate kid ) , blasted it while we all watched. Wow . final score 4-0 victory, Play of the game was from Jenna Gade, Heart of the game was Alex McLaughlin . Good work , next game July 7th, in Mount Forest ............................. submitted by Gord Kemp
