Changes to age groupings for 2017 Season
Submitted By John Adams on Friday, January 6, 2017
Hello all,
there have been some age group changes that will affect the way our players involved in the Lakeshore Loop divisions that Kincardine Minor Soccer is involved with, so we would like to take a moment to explain these to you.

First and foremost, we want you, our valued players, parents, coaches and supporters to understand that these groupings have been handed down through the Executive of the Lakeshore Loop, and have been selected in order to allow the greatest number of communities to be able to field teams in what is hoped to be a much more involved, competitive, and fulfilling season of soccer than was experienced by many players throughout the area this past season. Here are the age groups that will be fielded this year

Nights of Play for 2017 Season
Tuesday Nights--U6, U10 and U18
Wednesday Nights--U5, U15
Thursday Nights--U4, U8, and U12

House Leagues remain unchanged with the following age division splits
U4, U5, and U6--our Timbits house league to introduce players to the sport and help them learn and understand the basics of soccer, sponsored by Tim Hortons.

U8 and U10--our mid-level house leagues, designed to allow players to strengthen their understanding of the basics of the game, while at the same time increasing their field size, and introducing and reinforcing the concept of positions, corner kicks, throw ins, penalty kicks and more of the rules of the game.

New Lakeshore Divisions

U12--Unchanged from past seasons. Teams at this age division are split into girls teams and mixed teams, and the focus remains on skill development of the players as they adjust to another increase in field size, and continue to have their knowledge and understanding of the game fine tuned with the introduction of off sides, as well as honing the responsibilities and expectations associated with each position on the pitch.

NEW TO LAKESHORE THIS SEASON--U15--Replacing the previous U14 and splitting of the U16 group--again, this age group is designed to be the introductory level to true 11 on 11 soccer. By increasing the age pool to draw from it is expected that more teams will be able to participate in the league, which has been an issue in the past for both the U14 and U16 divisions.

NEW TO LAKESHORE THIS SEASON--U18--as with the U15 league, the U18 league was created with the goal of increasing the age pool to draw from to create additional teams to participate in the league.

As we have indicated, these are new for everyone this year and as we receive additional information on these leagues we will pass it along to our membership with all due haste

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact us via email at [email protected] or you can contact members of our executive directly through our about us link at the top of our homepage.
Thank you, and we look forward to another great season of soccer here in Kincardine.
