House League Cancellations (Kincardine & District Minor Soccer)

PrintHouse League Cancellations

Kincardine House League Games

There is no simple formula to determining if a House League game should be canceled.  The enjoyment and safety of the kids should be always be the main considerations.

Referees will make the final decision to play a game or not, due to environmental or other, with the coaches at the field right before game time.  In the situation where it is a hot day, typically games will be played and the referee will include additional water breaks for the players. Parents/guardians ultimately will decide what is the best decision for their child if conditions are not ideal for them.

If a coach wants or needs to consider canceling a game before the players come to the field, there are some suggested considerations to follow:

  • Coaches can poll their teams gather input from the parents/guardians
  • Coaches of each team should communicate with each other to determine if a cancellation is needed.
  • If it is weather related avoid canceling early in the day as the weather can change towards the later afternoon hours in Kincardine
  • Typically you can wait on making a decision until around 4pm, since all parents are located in Kincardine or close to the soccer fields and all House League games always start 5:30pm or later.
  • If a House League game gets cancels for weather or other reason, it is not rescheduled.
Playing in the rain (with no thunder and lighting) can be really fun for the players!

If the agreement between coaches is to cancel a game, the Referee Coordinator MUST be contacted ASAP so the assigned referee does not show up to a canceled game.
