Laws of the Game & Rules

Ontario Soccer is guided by the FIFA Laws of the Game in relation to the metrics of soccer fields. Participants should refer to 'Law One' of the FIFA Laws of the Game which detail the size, surface, goals and markings related to a soccer field. Participants should also be aware of the growth in provision of artificial surfaces allowing for greater time to train and play.

Kincardine Minor Soccer:  U8 and U10 Divisions 

Playing Format: 

  • 7v7 (including Goal Keeper (GK))
  • 2 x 25 min halves (with 5 min half-time)
  • Equal playing time & play all positions
  • Keep it simple/don't over coach
  • U8 Size 3 Ball
  • U10 Size 4 Ball

 

Soccer League Rules 

* Referee’s role is to allow young players to learn the game/rules.

  1. Goal Kick Line, opponents must be out of the penalty box on Goal kicks and behind the dashed retreat line painted on the field, players on the team are allowed in the box on goal kicks (play out of the back via GK –pass to teammate)
  2. Retreat Line will come into play when there is a

a) Goal Kick    or      b) GK has ball in his/her arms

All opponents must be behind the retreat line & cannot cross retreat line unit the ball...

  • Is touched by a second player of the team taking the goal kick prior to the ball crossing over the retreat line
  • Leaves the field of play
  • Goes over the retreat line

3. Players cannot score in the goal crease; players can enter on either team.

4. Kick-Off (player doing the kick-off cannot touch the ball again until it has been touched by another player. The ball can be kicked in any direction.

5. Free Kicks will all be indirect  (No Direct Kicks shall be awarded)

6. Penalty Kicks – 8 yards out  (only if there is foul in the crease)          

7. Throw-Ins or Kick/Dribble/Pass -Ins Allowed 

8. No Heading (deliberate heading in games is not allowed)

a. Game Officials have been directed to blow the whistle if players head makes contact with the ball.

            **Hats, Sunglasses, and Jewelry should be removed.
