Kincardine Minor Soccer is a soccer club and also runs a House League soccer league. Lake Shore League is a soccer league that certain KMS teams get entered in to play other teams in Bruce & Grey counties.
Question: What is the difference between House League and Lake Shore League?
Answer:
House League is an "in-town" no-travel soccer league that is run by Kincardine Minor Soccer and only consists of Kincardine teams that play each other during the season. House League has been for our U4-U10 teams traditionally. Lake Shore League is an external league not run by the Kincardine Minor Soccer Club where the club registers players, creates teams and then enters those teams into the Lake Shore League to play teams in Bruce and Grey Counties. Lake Shore League has been for our U12+ teams traditionally.

No, Kincardine Minor Soccer has been entering U12, U15, U18 and Adult teams in the League for many years.

Kincardine House League is for U4, U5, U6, U8 and U10. Lake Shore League is for U12, U15, U18 and adult

Answer:
Kincardine House League teams play only in Kincardine, with the exception of some games in Ripley. Lake Shore Leagues have half of their games as Home games in Kincardine and the other half will travel to teams in their Lake Shore League division that are in Bruce and Grey counties.

Question: What is the difference between Recreational and Competitive?
Answer:
Recreational is a general level of play which includes all skill levels of players and the soccer Leagues in our area for this type of play are Kincardine's House League (KHL) and Lake Shore League (LSL). Competitive is a step up, where kids that want to play at a higher level of soccer can tryout for teams and play in Leagues like Southwest District Soccer League (SDSL) or Elgin Middlesex District League (EMDSL)

Question: What is the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 in Lake Shore League?
Answer:
Lake Shore is a Recreational League and the only inter-community league offered in our area. With the growth in Bruce & Grey counties, more kids are playing soccer and want to play more competitively without the commitment of doing Extended Travel to play in Competitive Leagues. In 2024, Lake Shore League began a pilot to offer Tiers within age groups to create a division of teams for kids wanting to player at a more competitive level. For example, U12 Girls has 2 divisions: Tier 1 and Tier 2.

It depends, a coach would need to come forward for the age group with interest in coaching a Tier 1 team.
Question: Which team types do try-outs apply to?
Answer:
Tier 1 teams only. Tier 2 teams a player is placed on the team just by registering for the season.
Question: How does Kincardine determine its Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams for each age group?

Tryouts are held in the spring for those interested in Tier 1 play if a coach is found and willing to take on the creation and support of a Tier 1 team. Any player that doesn't make the team or doesn't want to tryout for Tier 1 will be placed on the Tier 2 team.

In 2025, Lake Shore League is offering Tier 1 Divisions and Tier 2 Divisions for U12 & U15 for girls and mixed teams.

Answer: In Bruce and Grey counties, there are no soccer leagues that offer competitive play. Teams have to travel to where these types of leagues exist that offer competitive divisions. For example, Kitchener, London, Guelph...
Question: When do tryouts or teams get created that play under Kincardine Minor Soccer club?

Recreational teams: House League teams are created after club player registration is completed. Lake Shore League Tier 1 teams have tryouts before the summer season starts, Tier 2 teams are created after Tier 1 tryouts happen. Competitive team tryouts are in the fall at the end of the season.
